Khaki Campbell Ducks for Sale

Khaki Campbell ducks originated in England and Holland in the late 1800s, renowned for their meat and prolific egg laying ability. Today, they remain a top choice for farmers and hobbyists looking to add a reliable egg layer to their flock.

True to their name, this breed has signature khaki-colored plumage, reminiscent of British Army uniforms. The "Campbell" in their name comes from Adele Campbell, who bred them specifically for egg production as well as meat.

This breed initially had a more buff appearance, which was refined via selective breeding over several generations. In addition to the Khaki color, Campbells also come in a white and dark variety.

These ducks are highly productive layers, capable of outperforming some chicken breeds. Under optimal conditions, they can produce between 165 and 240 eggs per year. Despite their egg-laying prowess, they are not natural mothers and are unlikely to go broody.

In addition to their productivity, this breed is hardy and adaptable to both hot and cold climates. They are a valuable and attractive addition to any homestead.

This breed does not fly and they typically do not hatch or raise their own young.

Mature weight between 3.5 to 4.5 lbs.

FAQs About Khaki Campbell Ducklings for Sale

Does this duck breed have a friendly disposition? Yes, they would be a good choice for growers that are new to keeping poultry, or wish to raise them as pets.

Are these ducks recognized by the American Poultry Association? Yes, they were formally recognized in 1941, but the other color varieties (dark and white) are not recognized.

Why are they so small and slender? They inherited some of their physical traits from runner ducks, who have slim, upright bodies. This gives them a bit more mobility than some other duck breeds.

How can I tell drakes apart from hens? Drakes will have a darker head than females, usually a bronze color with a hint of green. They somewhat resemble Mallard ducks.

Are duck eggs better tasting than chicken eggs? Duck eggs have a larger yolk, which gives them a higher amount of protein and nutrients. Some growers come to prefer the rich taste over chicken eggs.

What do ducklings of this breed look like? They are typically a tawny or bronze color with charcoal gray feet and bills. They will develop more mature coloration as they grow.

When do Khaki Campbell ducks start laying eggs? They can start laying eggs as early as 5 months old. However, this depends on their genetics, nutrition, and the time of year you are raising your birds.
