This hybrid is the larger sister breed of the Red Sex Link chicken. Similar to the Red Sex Link, Amberlinks are consistent producers of large to extra-large brown eggs. This breed is also an excellent forager, making them a good choice for growers who raise free-range or pastured chicken.
Amberlink: A Great Laying Hen
The Amberlink chicken produces large brown eggs, slightly darker and richer in color than other Sex Link breeds. Their eggs are consistent in size and egg shell strength. One of the best laying hens for backyard or commercial production.
With optimal care and climate conditions, growers can expect excellent egg yield between
285-300 eggs per year. They typically do not go broody.
Female chickens have creamy to solid white plumage with hints of amber brown and gold visible. They may have reddish tips on their wings and tail feathers.
Males are usually solid white, with more splashes of red and amber throughout their plumage. Overall, this breed is lightweight and compact in size, giving them an excellent feed conversion rate.
Since they are highly adaptive and natural-born foragers, these birds will thrive as pastured poultry. This reliable layer chicken is cold-hardy and heat tolerant.
This chicken breed is calm, docile, and easy to handle. They are suitable for first time chicken owners that want to raise backyard birds for egg production. The Amberlink breed is highly social and loves to be around other birds, so they are ideal for large or mixed flocks.
Average mature weight for males is 4.25 lbs, females average 4 lbs.
