About Myers Poultry
Our Story
Growing up on a family farm, Diane Myers was always fond of livestock, little did Diane know that her passion would turn into a business servicing the continental United States.
As a young teenager, Diane was asked by a neighboring farmer to help work at his poultry farm. The farmer specialized in started Capons, there she learned the skill of caponizing. When the neighboring farmer retired in 1988 he asked Diane to take over the operations, leading to the start of Myers Started Capons. Diane grew the business raising started capons at her farm, as well as doing custom caponizing for clients in Michigan, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, California, and Nevada.
To use birds for Capons they have to be hardy and have good bone structure to support their weights to go beyond what regular broilers are bred to do. In the ever-changing broiler industry finding the right breed to use for caponizing is a challenge. Diane would often hear complaints about other broiler strains out there that had poor livability and leg problems, so this led Diane to start supplying customers with the same strain as she was using for her own custom caponizing. Starting to supply meat chicks to her caponizing customers propelled her into the day old poultry market.
Since 1988 Myers Poultry has grown from only selling started capons and customize caponizing to now serving the continental United States with mail order poultry including Broilers, Turkeys, Layers, Ducks Goslings and Gamebirds.
At Myers Poultry we are a “Family Business”. With our immediate family along with our spouses and a few little ones is what makes our operation work. As well as our employees that have become our extended family. Our goal today is the same goal since the beginning, suppling customers with the best quality possible.
