Light Brahma

Product ID: 2LB
These birds have beautiful feathered feet, making them a standout choice for any backyard or exhibition. The Light Brahma chicken is very large, but don't let their intimidating size fool you. These chickens are as gentle and docile as they come.

Light Brahmas: A Popular Show Bird

Light Brahma eggs are brown and range from medium to large in size. They are considered to be good layers, although they are not as productive as some other breeds.

Depending on quality of care and climate conditions, growers can expect good egg yield between 150-260 eggs per year. Light Brahmas are excellent mothers, so they may go broody. This breed is a good choice for those looking to raise baby chicks at home.

These black and white chickens have heavy plumage that gives them a stately, regal appearance. Females are typically all white with a black tail and some black feathering on their neck. They may have a lacing pattern.

Males look similar to females, but with a more pronounced tail and more black feathers along their neck and saddle area. They may also display a lacing pattern. Both males and females have feathered feet.

They come in three varieties: Light Brahma, Buff Brahma, and Dark Brahma. Due to their large size, these birds serve as a good dual-purpose breed.

Because they are hardy and adaptable, this breed would thrive best as a free-range or pastured chicken. This breed is tolerant of heat and is extremely well-suited to cold climates. With optimal care, they will continue to lay eggs, even in cold temperatures.

Light Brahmas are incredibly gentle and easy to handle. They are well-suited for any backyard or hobbyist looking to keep them as a family pet.

Average mature weight for males is 12 lbs, females average 9 lbs.
