Mini Classic Turkey Poults

Product ID: 6MCSR
If you want to raise your own turkey but don't need a 30-pound bird, the Mini Classic is a good fit. These stocky, white-feathered turkeys offer the meat yield you want from a commercial turkey while finishing at a more manageable size. They are easier to handle, process, and fit in the oven.

Small Turkey Breeds for Sale

Mini Classics are hardy, stocky birds that adapt well to outdoor setups. Their white feathers leave fewer visible pin feathers, helping them pluck clean and dress out nicely.

With good care, hens reach around 16 pounds and toms around 23 pounds live weight at 16 weeks. They also offer good feed efficiency for their size, with an average feed conversion rate of 2.51 for toms at 18 weeks and 2.76 for hens at 16 weeks.

Each order comes with a packet of AquaStart to help your poults find their feed and receive added hydration and electrolytes after shipping.

FAQs About Raising Mini Turkeys

What is the difference between this breed and the Broad Breasted White? While they look somewhat similar, these are two different breeds with different genetics. The Mini Classic offers some of the great traits of the Broad Breasted variety, but in about half the size, making them better suited for small farms and homesteads.

What are the advantages of raising a miniature turkey? Although smaller in size, this breed is actually a great choice for growers who sell directly to consumers or niche markets. Smaller families value convenient cooking times.

Does this bird offer good meat yield for its size? Yes, they have a good feed conversion rate and offer great meat yield in spite of their smaller size.

Is it possible to raise this breed with other turkeys? You can, but keep in mind that all of our breeds reach market weight at different ages. It may be best to keep them separate in order to maintain feed conversion and healthy growth rates.

Can I order turkey poults in the winter? We ship turkey poults seasonally from spring to late summer, as this is the standard growing season for turkeys. If you missed turkey season, our Cornish broilers ship year-round.

Can turkeys fly? Yes, but they only fly in short bursts and do not take sustained flight for long periods. Turkeys like to roost in trees for protection, so their natural instinct is to take flight in the evenings to look for shelter.
