Breed Comparison Chart
Nicknamed the "penguin duck," Runner ducks are famous for their unique physical appearance. Their profile is very distinct from other duck breeds. They have slender, lightweight bodies that stand nearly upright, making them highly mobile and active.

Fawn & White Runners: Lightweight Ornamental Ducks

Fawn and White Runner ducks have white heads accented with tan or fawn coloration around their eyes and cheeks. Their bodies are mostly tan with some white accented plumage around their wings.

The posture of Fawn and White Runner ducks isn’t just for appearances. Their conformation gives them the ability to move around more deftly than other duck breeds. They are quite agile and nimble on their feet, and were bred to be herded long distances.

Fawn Runner ducks are not prolific egg layers. Their egg production is considered fair with up to 180 eggs per year, but they will lay consistently throughout the year even in cold temperatures.

Fawn and White Runners are one of the best foraging duck breeds out there—they love snacking on garden pests and weeds. Runners are lightweight enough to avoid damaging vegetation in your yard.

This duck is primarily used for egg production and ornamental purposes. Their slender bodies are not conducive to making them a good dual-purpose bird.

Runners do not fly and typically do not hatch or raise their own young.

With optimal care, they can reach a mature weight between 3 to 4 lbs.
