What is the difference between this breed and the Broad Breasted White? While they look somewhat similar, these are two different breeds with different genetics. The Mini Classic offers some of the great traits of the Broad Breasted variety, but in about half the size, making them better suited for small farms and homesteads.
What are the advantages of raising a miniature turkey? Although smaller in size, this breed is actually a great choice for growers who sell directly to consumers or niche markets. Smaller families value convenient cooking times.
Does this bird offer good meat yield for its size? Yes, they have a good feed conversion rate and offer great meat yield in spite of their smaller size.
Is it possible to raise this breed with other turkeys? You can, but keep in mind that all of our breeds reach market weight at different ages. It may be best to keep them separate in order to maintain feed conversion and healthy growth rates.
Can I order turkey poults in the winter? We ship turkey poults seasonally from spring to late summer, as this is the standard growing season for turkeys. If you missed turkey season, our Cornish broilers ship year-round.
Can turkeys fly? Yes, but they only fly in short bursts and do not take sustained flight for long periods. Turkeys like to roost in trees for protection, so their natural instinct is to take flight in the evenings to look for shelter.
