In some cases, bigger is not always better. Despite their smaller stature, these mini turkeys are efficient for their size and offer a good feed conversion rate. Many consumers prefer smaller turkeys, as they are more convenient to cook and prepare.

For a backyard setting with limited space, a mini turkey might be preferable to the Broad Breasted varieties.

While Broad Breasted turkeys are typically raised in commercial settings, the Mini Classic is hardy, stocky, and adaptable to outdoor environments. They thrive as free-range turkeys where they can express their natural instincts to forage.

Our mini turkeys have a similar appearance to the Broad Breasted White turkey, weighing in at about half the size once they reach maturity. They have beautiful white feathers and a strong, robust appearance. These birds do not have dark pin feathers, so they pluck and dress well for easy processing. 

Although they are smaller than a traditional turkey, their meat is just as tender and delicious as larger turkey breeds. Their white to dark meat ratio is well-balanced. Their flavorful meat is said to be richer and more complex than standard varieties.

Growers can expect an average feed conversion rate of 2.51 for males at 18 weeks, while females average 2.76 at 16 weeks. With optimal care, this compact bird can reach a live weight of 16 to 26 lbs between the age of 16 to 18 weeks.
