FAQ About Rainbow Assortments

Can you guarantee my assortment will include chickens that lay blue eggs? We cannot guarantee what egg color your assortment chicks will lay. Even if a blue egg layer is included, they could lay different shades of blue, green, or brown depending on their unique genetics.

I need help identifying my breeds. Can you tell me what breeds you included? We do not generally include that information, as assortments are just what we have on hand at the time. However, if you'd like us to help you identify your chicks later, you can send us an email with photos of your birds; our team will do their best to assist you.

I want rare egg colors. How can I find chicks that lay speckled eggs or pink eggs?
Egg genetics for hens is fascinating, and isn't always predictable. It's rare, but possible for a chicken to lay a pink egg, but the pink shade is usually attributable to a heavy bloom on a tan egg.

There is no such thing as a breed that specifically lays speckled eggs, as that is due to the way pigment is deposited on the egg during ovulation.

My assortment mostly lays brown eggs, but I wanted a wide range of egg colors. I'm disappointed. Can you fix this? No, assortments are up to chance. We do our very best to include a wide variety of breeds and egg colors, but this is part of the risk of ordering an assortment.

If you'd like more control over the color your breeds lay, we suggest ordering the specific breeds you are looking for.

I want my hatchery assortment to include an Olive Egger chicken and a blue egg layer. Can you add them to my order? No, we cannot take any requests for specific breeds or egg colors. If you'd rather choose your breeds individually, our team would happily assist you with picking the best chicks for your laying flock.
