Pekin Ducks for Sale: Best Duck for Meat Production

Pekin ducks are attractive birds with stark white feathers and orange beaks and shanks. Growers primarily raise them for meat, making them the most popular domestic duck in the United States.

Pekin ducks are favored for meat production because they are highly efficient and reach market weight quickly. These birds can achieve a live weight of seven pounds at just 40 days of age.

Pekins also have a good feed conversion rate, producing one pound of live weight from 2.5 pounds or less of feed. Pekin ducks are equally suited to commercial farms or pastured poultry settings.

If managed properly, you can expect reliable egg production throughout the year. In optimal conditions, they will lay 150-200 eggs per year.

White Pekin ducks are hardy and will thrive in a variety of conditions and climates. These birds do not fly and typically do not hatch or raise their own young.

For easy processing, this breed has minimal pin feathers at 7, 12.5, and 18 weeks. If properly cared for, this breed can reach a mature weight between 7 to 9 lbs.
